Grodno is one of the most ancient cities of Belarus (In the Middle Ages it was the center of the principality, in the 13th century it was a part of the Great Duchy of Lithuania, in the 16th century it was a residence of polish kings Vytautas and Stephen Bathory), therefore it has a reach cultural heritage and thus it is an important point of the tour itineraries.

There are 7 museum within the limits of the city: Grodno State Museum of History and Archaeology, Grodno State Museum of religion History, Memorial Room of Eliza Orzeszkowa, Museum of Maksim Bahdanovich, History Museum Gorodnitsa, Museum of Modern Folk Art of Grodno Region and Jesuit Pharmacy.
The city has two theatres: Grodno Region Drama Theatre and Grodno Region Puppet Theatre.
Historical center of the city occupies an area of 300 hectares. Grodno is the only city of Belarus where the outlines of the historical center of the city remain unchanged. Historical center of Grodno is a sample of the architecture of 18-19th centuries.
Old castle was built at the end of the 11th century and was being rebuilt up to and including the 19th century. The castle is one of the most ancient samples of architecture in Belarus.
The Kalozha Church of Sts. Boris and Gleb is one of five fully or partially extant samples of architecture of pre-Mongolian period in Belarus. It is situated on the high bank of the river Neman.
The Convent of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin was built in 1720 by the architect J. Fontana III in the place of the wooden Uniate church. At the first part of the 19th century the church located on the territory of the convent was transferred to the Orthodox Church and the convent was acting in its place until the 1960, and reactivated in 1992.
St. Francis Xavier Cathedral is a cathedral of catholic diocese of Grodno. The interior is decorated by multifigured composition in the chancel and the pillars embellished with decorative iconostasis lines made entirely of wood. Fresco (1720) is comprised of multiple compositions in the arched niches and vaults.
New castle was constructed in 1734-1751 during the reign of the King of Poland Augustus III as his summer residence. One part of the palace contained the royal apartments, and the second part involved the rooms for Sejm proceedings.

There is a Zoo, amusements in the Gilibert Park, entertainment center “Prival”, puppet theatre, Aquacenter, Entertainment and Recreation Complex Garadzenski Maentak in Korobchitsy.
Here you can have a good time seeing ancient constructions, walking in the narrow streets and lingering over in small cozy cafés. And of course you can gain familiarity with the history of the city above Neman. The story “Upon the Niemen” by Eliza Orzeszkowa is written about our city and it was written in our city. Grodno is the city with a very rich history which dates back 880 years.
